The Wave Rock

You’ll be amazed at the size and shape of the Wave Rock. This magnificent, prehistoric rock formation has been eroded by the weather over millions and millions of years to take on the fascinating shape it has today. Climb to the top and enjoy the view of the surrounding farmland, gum-forests and the beautiful bushland. This is a great spot to take photos and appreciate this unique outback landscape.

Hippo's Yawn

Take a short walk from Wave Rock to Hippo's Yawn. We’ll show you some spectacular views of the orchids and wildflowers in Spring. Can you guess what the rock formation looks like? It’s fascinating to learn more about the natural forces that created this unique piece of geography.

Mulka's Cave

We take a 16 km drive to the Humps and learn about our Aboriginal history with the legend of Mulka at Mulka's Cave. We climb through his living quarters to the top of the giant rock formation to look out towards the salt plains and the patchwork of paddocks. You’ll feel the sense of ancient magic and hear the stories that make this place so special.

Lake Magic

Speaking of magic, the lakeside cottages at the Wave Rock Resort overlook Lake Magic which is a photographer's dream. We stay in these cottages because they are comfortable and have a lovely view of the water at sunrise.

Kalgoorlie Super Pit

The Super Pit is the most visited attraction in the Goldfields region and the scale of it will take your breath away. Viewed from the official lookout at the end point of the Golden Quest Discovery Trail, the Super Pit is one of the most spectacular man-made landscapes in Australia. Over 3.5 km long and 1.5 km wide, the pit is currently around 400m deep.

Since 1989, the Super Pit has produced over 13 million ounces of gold. The Super Pit is Australia’s largest open pit gold mine, producing around 850,000 ounces of the precious metal annually.  1,000 people work at the mine and it operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
